On March 29th, KING 5 TV News reporter Jake Whittenberg aired an interview with Blaine Weber, Principal of Seattle-based Weber Thompson and architect for NEXUS Condominiums. The discussion was hinged on an initiative by the Seattle City Council called HALA (Housing Affordability and Livability Agenda), which aims to trade additional building density to developers in order to fund affordable housing in the city (either onsite or offsite). Weber, who is a leading architect in the region with dozens of high-rise residential towers in his portfolio, agrees with the prospect of greater density in the city.
“It’s critical to avoid urban sprawl,” said Weber, noting that the northeast quadrant of downtown Seattle is experiencing a renaissance of development.
To illustrate the extraordinary Seattle skyline in the making, Burrard Group, developers of NEXUS, released a new digital flyover video to King 5 TV News that documents the upcoming developments that will further establish this “East Village” district.
